The sport of ziplining and canopy touring is a growing attraction in West Virginia and can supply endless thrills and breathtaking views while zipping through the trees at up to 45 miles an hour 200 feet above the ground. Wow! Needless to say, safety is a major consideration in the construction, maintenance and operation of a zipline.
Aware that the sport is ever increasing in popularity, the West Virginia Legislature passed the Zipline & Canopy Tour Responsibility Act, W.Va. Code ยง 21-15, effective June 10, 2011. The Act requires ziplines and canopy tours to be installed, repaired, maintained, operated and inspected consistent with the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) standards.
